IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR PLAYOFF TEAMS:

  1. PLAYOFF ELIGIBILITY: Please remember that all players must have played in a minimum of 3 regular season matches in order to qualify for the playoffs.  Players who have been deemed ineligible by the league will have their names appear in italics on the MMDL Stats Website.  If you have any questions about this policy, please contact your Area Director or the League Commissioner.

  2. Please remember to remind your sponsor about the possibility for Thursday night playoff matches and check their schedule for conflicts with holiday parties or other events.

  3. Winning captains - DON'T FORGET - report playoff match results immediately following your win, call or email your area director as instructed on the playoff schedule sheet.

  4. Driving Directions to Opponent's Sponsor are available from the MMDL Stats Website. Note: May not contain every sponsor, if you don't find yours, try mapquest.com or Google Maps.

  5. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS regarding the playoffs, please contact your Area Director.  ADs are extremely busy during the playoffs and have many other captains to consider, so please be patient and make sure you have all of your information and questions at hand when contacting them. AD contact info is listed on your area playoff schedule or click here.

  6. Playoff Results will be reported after each round is completed on the MMDL website - see above.

  7. TIP: For a match report, since these are not mailed into the league, you may use an extra blank regular season match report (separate the three carbons so you have three copies to use), or just a blank piece of paper.  To download a blank match report, click here.

Super A - Clarification of Order of Play:

There has been some confusion regarding Super A match format and which games begin with a shoot for the cork./bull.  Please read the information posted in our forums regarding this issue - click here.  We recommend you download the official document which outlines the correct procedures - click here to download the .pdf.

601 Format Change Coming Spring 2011:

Beginning in the Spring 2011 season, MMDL will be replacing the two 601 games with three doubles 501, DIDO in ALL DIVISIONS. A significant percentage of the league membership has expressed strong feelings in support of this change and the Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to implement this after the upcoming Fall season. IF YOU FEEL THIS IS NOT A CHANGE THAT YOU APPROVE OF, please let your opinion known to your Area Director, preferably with an email.

Click here to discuss this issue with other league members.

Start time is 7:30pm!

Start time for ALL DIVISIONS is 7:30pm. All matches MUST be underway by 8:00pm SHARP! Late starts could lead to point deductions. If you are running late, you are advised to give the other captain a courtesy phone call with an estimated time of arrival or for scheduling a makeup match. There are no forfeits - teams that "no-show" will be suspended for 2 seasons. Please read through the guidelines posted in our discussion forums regarding match start time.   They are posted there to encourage your feedback.

SUPER A FORMAT CHANGE:

Super A Divisions will undergo the following changes beginning Fall 2010:

  • The first three games of doubles 501 will now be single leg and DIDO.
  • All singles matches will now return to the MMDL standard 301 DIDO, best of 3 format.
  • Doubles cricket will remain best 2 out of 3 legs for the highest recognized MMDL division which is currently SA
  • Only the top 4 teams of each area will qualify for the playoffs.

Reasons for these changes:

After reviewing a 2 season long experiment with alternative formats, these changes were made to --

  • Shorten match time duration for all SA teams in all areas
  • Improve the competitive structure of the division and reduce lop-sided match scores
  • Make SA more attractive to borderline teams and teams chosen to move up
  • Create a format that will better enable 6-8 team division size
  • Prevent the need for distant travel to SA matches
  • Remain closer to longstanding MMDL match format traditions and heritage

Click here to discuss this issue with other league members.

SA Early Registration Request: In order to better manage the SA division, we are asking all teams that wish to participate to declare their intention early by submitting their Super A team roster by Monday, July 19th via email to Adam Sherlock at adams@mmdl.org. Sponsor checks will not be required on that date and are due per usual at the first scheduled captain's meeting. You do not have to submit your roster by this date, SA rosters can also be submitted during the regularly scheduled area captain's meetings the first week of August. Please use the PDF roster form which can be filled out on your computer and easily sent via email.
