MMDL
is a charter member of the American
Darts Organization (ADO), and many of our members appear at the
top of the ADO rankings every year. All MMDL members are
automatically ADO members for the calendar year in which they
participate (your dues are covered by MMDL). MMDL is a part of ADO
Region 5-1.
Visit the ADO website for
additional information.
How to participate in the ADO -- The ADO is mainly for serious
players who wish to compete in nationally sanctioned competitions, but
is also available to players of all levels who wish to compete.
The ADO runs many regional events throughout the year.
Winners of these events earn paid trips to ADO national
competitions to compete against the top players from around the USA.
All participants have the chance to earn
ranking points just by
participating in any ADO events, both local and national.
Many large open tournaments also offer ADO points if they secure
sanctioning. At the highest level, some players may earn a chance
to represent the USA in International competitions.
Many people find the ADO program unclear.
Below is how YOU, as an MMDL member, can take advantage of what the ADO
offers:
FREE ADO Qualifiers - For each Regional Tournament, the
MMDL holds a qualifier tournament with no entry fee required and all
MMDL members in good standing are eligible to participate. The MMDL will pay
a player's $110 ADO fee to participate in the subsequent Regional
Tournament according to the following participation ratio (you may
be asked onsite if you wish to contribute $10 into a pool to send
additional players, but this is completely optional):
- 1 to 7 Men/Women = 1 player sent to regional
- 8 to 15 Men/Women = 2 players sent to regional
- 15 + Men/Women = 3 players sent to regional
The format of these events is Round-Robin, same format as the
Regionals, which can be a very full day of play (winners of
qualifiers have played as many as 54 legs starting at 12noon and
ending about 9:30-10pm), so participants must be prepared to stay
for the full event. These qualifiers are held in a rotational
pattern around each of the four MMDL areas, and are administrated by
the league ADO representatives listed on the right.
ADO Regional Tournaments (see list on the right) - Regional tournaments are held
once per quarter. Winners are
provided expenses paid trips to ADO national events held throughout
the country and are also awarded
ranking points based on where they
finish. Any player who did not earn their entry fee at a
qualifier must pay a $110 entry fee to participate. These
funds are used to pay expenses for the winners of the regionals to
attend the respective national ADO events, which are held throughout
the year in different parts of the country.
Major Open Tournaments - Many open tournaments also offer
ADO ranking points based on place finished if the tournament has
secured ADO sanctioning. There are many of these local to New
England, including the Witch
City Open, Seacoast Open, Port City Open, White Mountain
Tournament and others.
If you have any questions regarding the ADO, please visit the
ADO website or contact one of the
league ADO representatives listed to the right. |
